Jordan was a pioneer in importing electric vehicles, being the first Arab country to introduce an electric car in 2011, alongside the launch of the first solar-powered charging station at Al-Hassan Science City. The Jordanian government played a significant role in promoting electric vehicle adoption by providing customs exemptions and streamlining licensing procedures to encourage their use as an alternative to fuel-powered cars and reduce environmental pollution. While the presence of electric vehicles on Jordanian streets is rapidly increasing, it also necessitates an expansion of electric vehicle charging stations.
